Valentangle 2019 Review
Valentines is a special time of year where we all have the opportunity to show, give and receive love in some form. In the Zentangle community we often tangle to relax, calm down and measure our emotions.
Valentangle originated four years ago by Marguerite Samama, is a fun process to follow with interesting exercises spaced out over the two weeks leading up to Valentines Day. This year she abandoned the idea of keeping with the traditional Valentines colours of red and pink encouraging us to use any colour we wished including the colours in her new Persian Mosaic Kit.
Accordion Booklet
I decided this year to create an accordion booklet to house all of my Valentangle projects. It is a cute and compact method of keeping them all in one place. The booklet provides me an opportunity to add a touch of something that I enjoy doing - making books.
The cover is constructed from beautiful handmade paper from Vintage Page Designs and the pages are from black, tan and cream Stonehenge paper from Opus Art Supply in Victoria, BC.

Valentanle Day #1-4
Marguerite used her new fragment, Love Fragment throughout the 14 day process of #Valentangle2019. We used it for the first day making any design we wished with any colour.
Day #1 - Love Fragment
Day two we used Ratoon and I created mine on a tan Stonehenge page in the booklet.
Day #2 - Ratoon
Day three we attempted to express limits on our page. This was an opportunity for me to use one of my black Stonehenge pages.
Day #3 - limitations
Day four we made a 3Z mosaic or puzzle. Fortunately, I had already purchased Marguerite Samama’s Persian Mosiac kit and had the stencil on hand.
Day #4 - 3Z Mosaic
Valentangle Day 5-7
For Day five we were to tangle “on” something and I chose to tangle the cover of my book.
Day #5 - tangle on something
Day six we tangled the Wholly-Hollibaugh technique which I did on black Stonehenge paper.
Day #6 - Wholly-Hollibaugh
Day seven we were back to the precious Love Fragment and drew it as a flower. Mine lay on a bed of Nzepple.
Day #7 - Love Fragment as a flower
Valentangle Day #8-10
Day eight we embellished the first letter of our loved one. Mine of course is “D” for David, my husband.
Day #8 - Embedded Letter
Day nine we used the tangle Ing and drew it as a star. This was my favourite project during the series!
Day #9 - Ing as a star
Day ten we used a heat to create corner embellishments.
Day #10 - Heart Corners
Valentangle #11-14
Day eleven we used border tangles on a 3Z shape. I created mine on one of my tan pages.
Day #11 - Border tangles
Day twelve we used Yuma by Tina Hunziker with a heart as the seed.
Day #12 - Yuma
Day thirteen we used a grid on black with Bijou.
Day #13 - Bijou and grids on black
Finally, for day fourteen, the last day of Valentangle 2019, we created a puffy pillow tangle similar to what Maria showed us in a recent Kitchen Table Tangle.

Valentangle 2019 Conclusion
To complete my Valentangle journey I added a cover page inside the booklet.

Once again, Valentangle proved to be a super fun project and I learned a few new tangles. Hope on over to Facebook to check out all the great work posted by everyone who participated.
